The Georgia State Organization of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. proudly inducts Bro. Alonza Bennett into its Hall of Fame in recognition of his transformative leadership, enduring legacy, and unwavering commitment to the principles of our beloved fraternity.

Bro. Bennett served as the 6th Georgia State Representative from 1985 to 1987, a period marked by bold vision and dynamic action. During his tenure, he oversaw the critical re-alignment of the Four Regions, building on the foundational work of the 5th Georgia State Representative, Bro. Samuel Jolley. Under his leadership, the Georgia State Organization also saw the establishment of the Senior Advisor positions, creating a legacy of wisdom-guided leadership that continues to shape our path forward.

In collaboration with the 4th State Representative, Bro. David Brown, Bro. Bennett co-authored the first Georgia State Constitution and Bylaws, a historic achievement that solidified the administrative framework of the State Organization.

Bro. Bennett’s term witnessed a substantial increase in both graduate and undergraduate participation in the Fraternity’s Mandated Programs, reflecting his emphasis on unity, service, and excellence. He played a central role in a period of significant expansion, internal development, and chapter formation across Georgia, including the establishment of the first undergraduate pledge line at Georgia Southwestern College in 1987.

As a leader, Bro. Bennett convened and presided over two landmark Georgia State Meetings:

  • 1985 – Hosted by Mu Beta Beta Chapter in Thomasville, Georgia
  • 1986 – Hosted by Eta Omega Chapter in Atlanta, Georgia

His impact extended far beyond Georgia. On the District and International levels, Bro. Bennett rendered distinguished service as the 6th Executive Director of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and served with honor as Chief of Staff to the 35th Grand Basileus, Bro. Lloyd Jordan. He was an integral member of the Seventh District Council and chaired the Transportation Committee for the Omega World Headquarters Celebration, further demonstrating his commitment to excellence in operations and logistics.

His accolades include:

  • International Omega Man of the Year
  • Distinguished Service & Leadership Award (Seventh District)
  • Outstanding Service Award – South Dade, Florida Brothers
  • Marketing Representative Award – Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Federal Credit Union

Bro. Alonza Bennett’s legacy is not only one of strategic leadership and administrative brilliance, but also of heartfelt dedication to the Brotherhood and its uplift. His visionary contributions continue to shape the Georgia State Organization, the Seventh District, and the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity at large.

We honor and celebrate Bro. Alonza Bennett—visionary, servant-leader, and true Omega Man.
